CHALK PAINT AFICIONADO

Being a partially retired senior citizen, I now have more time to pursue some hobbies. As many of my friends know…Chalk Painting has become a recent interest (albeit obsession is probably more accurate).

I discovered Annie Sloan Chalk Paint while browsing through Pinterest (another interest / obsession). To learn more about her paint Click here It was both the look of the finished pieces and the ease of using it that triggered my pursuit. Annie's paint is AWESOME to work with and can usually be used without any tedious prep work involving stripping, sanding, etc. It is AMAZING and MAGICAL as it covers beautifully on surfaces from wood to glass to fabric and beyond. With her custom clear and dark wax, final finishes are beautiful.

My introduction to actually using ASCP started when I took a Chalk Paint 101 class at Paddywacs Anoka store Click here. My new obsession had begun. I was painting so much that one of my friends commented "If you stand still too long, she will be painting you too!!”  :-)

Chalk Painted Pieces

Here is a picture of some of my very first projects. ((Insert pics)) Each time I attempt to add a photo, pc locks up.  :-(

One of my good friends LESLIE liked my little piano bench and it became my first official sale. Not only was the wood base painted, but the plastic Cushion was also painted. Too much fun! ((Insert bench pic))

As images of my pieces were shared and word spread, I completed my first custom order. Although slightly apprehensive that the pieces would not turn out like the images in her head, I painted, waxed and distressed an oak tea cart and a sweet little magazine rack. They were both loved. ((Insert pics))

I may have to call in a pc expert to help me figure out how to get my pc/software to cooperate and add pictures. There may an issue with the browser version. Whatever it is... it is getting frustration ..  just like this LONG winter. At that time... you will finally see more pictures.  I have to admit, when I am working on the blog I keep thinking about my painting. It is hard to stay focused on blogging.

Until next time... have an awesome day!  :-)

The beginning...

I am still stuck on a name to use for my blog, but for now it is Tootie's Treasures. This blog will develop as I trek through an online course. Currently my brain is "on vacation" and creativity is pretty low. As I learn, the look of the blog will change.  So...stay tuned.  :-)
